This website uses no cookies, no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. Fonts and images are loaded from its own server only. Third-party services are involved only where you start them yourself: a video, the newsletter sign-up or a link to another site.
Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). When a page is requested, the server processes technical data such as the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the browser type and the amount of data transferred. This is needed to deliver the site securely and without errors (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest). Cloudflare may process this data outside the European Union, relying on the safeguards named in its own privacy policy.
Local storage in your browser
If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves that choice in your browser (local storage, entry ya-theme) so that it can remember it. The entry stays on your device, is not sent to anyone and can be deleted in your browser settings. It is stored only because you asked for the function.
Embedded videos
Videos from YouTube are embedded in the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and are loaded only after you click the play button. Until then no data goes to YouTube. After the click, YouTube (Google) receives technical data such as your IP address and processes it under its own privacy policy, which may include a transfer to the USA (legal basis: your click, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Newsletter
The newsletter runs on Substack (Substack Inc., USA). The email address you type into the sign-up form on this site is passed directly to Substack when you submit the form, and the sign-up continues in a new window on Substack. This site does not store the address. A subscription needs your confirmation and can be cancelled at any time through the link in every email. Substack processes the data under its own privacy policy.
Contact and inquiries
The inquiry forms on this site only prepare an email in your own email program. Nothing is transmitted to or stored by the website. A message reaches me only when you send it yourself. I use the data you provide (name, email address, content of the message) to answer your inquiry and to handle a commission, sponsorship or collaboration (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). It is deleted when it is no longer needed and no retention duty applies.
Links to other websites
This site links to YouTube, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Patreon, GoFundMe, Amazon, Apple Podcasts, Substack and the Turkic Atlas. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that site applies. Showing a link does not pass any data on.
